In my last post, I laid out the bones of our Depth Year plan. Let’s take a closer look at our quest to get our number of unplayed games (aka Shelf of Shame) trending toward zero. We’re breaking the year into quarters for this goal and focusing on 15 games each quarter (yeah… we’ve got waaaay too many unplayed games). The 15 games won’t be the ONLY games we play during the quarter, but we will be making a conscious effort to get the unplayed playlist to the table each quarter. For Quarter 1 (Q1), we’ve got the games below in our playlist. I’ll update each entry with a play date once we’ve played the game.
With every play, we will make a decision on whether the game stays or goes. There are three potential outcomes for each play: 1) definitely stays, 2) definitely goes, or 3) needs another play before deciding.
Things in the “going” pile will be sold, traded, or donated. Prior to 2019 starting, we’ve added 40+ games to our going list, which was a great exercise in getting over the emotional attachment we have to our games.
