Stonemaier Games: My Little Scythe, Euphoria, Viticulture/Tuscany, Between Two Castles of Mad King Ludwig

I’m catching up on a few Game Day posts while I’m in between semesters at grad school! This game day was in January 2019. Most of the games in our game room are organized by genre/theme or mechanic (horror: Lovecraft, zombies, vampires; dexterity games; games about stories or that look like books; games based on books/movies; dungeon delving; pirates; space; etc.), but there are two publishers who have their very own sections: Red Raven Games and Stonemaier Games. This game day was dedicated to the latter and we focused on games that were new to us at the time. In addition to the games we had on hand in the photo above, a friend surprised us by bringing a copy of Wingspan! While in the photo above, Viticulture didn’t actually make it to the table (fret not, it made it to the table on another game day!).

Notes from RebeccaOur group LOVED this game. We were already fans of both Between Two Cities AND Castles of Mad King Ludwig, so we were eager to play this mashup and we were not disappointed. For some of us, this was our second time playing. I love that it can handle up to 7 players - it's part of the new go-to list for when we have a larger group who want to play together instead of split up.

Notes from RebeccaThis game is gorgeous. The art! Stunning! I do wish one of the fonts were more legible, because, while pretty, the delicate script used for the scientific names isn't very visually accessible. We all loved the gameplay and learning about birds! Later, I was lucky enough to win a copy from my favorite game store on Earth, The Wandering Dragon Game Shoppe!
